Forget-Me-Nots

I love flowers in general, but several stand out as strong personal motifs for me.  Forget-Me-Nots are a link to my Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandfather, the gardener who got off the boat from Ireland and went to work on a southern plantation prior to the Civil War.   He and his brother were both gardeners there.  When the War broke out one fought for the south, and one for the north.  And they never saw each other again.  My GGF settled in NJ after the conflict and started his own florist business.   My GM brought Forget-Me-Nots, Lillies of the Valley, and Geraniums with her when she married and moved to New England.  My Mother took some descendants of those plants with her when she married and started her own garden.  I took some with me when I married.  Small but powerful connections.
