I love zinnias! I haven’t yet found out if they originated in China, but I suspect that they might have. My Dad grew them in abundance every summer, and they are high on my favorite flowers list. They are so simple and sturdy, yet so very elegant. Some people may think that flowers “have been done” in embroidery, but when I look at a zinnia, I know that that’s not true. Flowers are always going to be new and fresh in the hands of the needlewomen that love them.
