Why do some Chinese copy?
Have been reading needlework blogs lately, and noticing that there are a number of needlework designers who’ve had their designs ripped off by Chinese design pirates. Besides the fact that it’s morally wrong, why do they do it? The Chinese culture is rich and ancient. They’ve invented and/or developed fabulous things. Their art is magnificent. They needn’t steal, unless of course, they’ve just run out of original ideas, culturally speaking. I personally know several other crafters, not needleworkers, who’ve had their ideas/designs ripped off by Chinese bad guys who then mass-market them on the cheap. One family business was destroyed. Are there really so few job oportunities in China that they have to stoop to raiding other countries’ cottage industries? This is really sad. The Mother of Gardens needs to do some weeding.
