Thoughts after listening to the news
“Our background and circumstances may influence who we are, but we alone are responsible for who we become.” ~ Anonymous
This quote is from the sampler pattern I’m currently working on. The pattern is not quite ready yet, but after listening to today’s news, I was moved to post the quote.
At this point in history, it seems that the world is bereft of statesmen, but is overflowing with sychophants. Most politicians lie easily, happily line their own pockets or those of their family, blame someone else for their messes and take credit where it is not their due. Some days, listening to the political maneuvering and posturing in the country/world becomes unbearable. I fully appreciate the desire to withdraw from the world and enter the great silence.
Thank God for the continual dew of goodness that helps to sustain the world. As Leo Buscaglia said, “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”
